Bestbuy’s 70th AGM & 2024 Spring Conference

May 13, 2024 – Bestbuy Distributors held their 70th Annual General Meeting and Spring Conference in Toronto on May 9-11, 2023. The event brought together Bestbuy shareholders and vendors from across Canada to meet and network. It was a great turnout of shareholders and suppliers and guests.

Meet the 2024 Board of Directors

President Nicholas Brunet introduced the 2024 Bestbuy Board of Directors. Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer Doug Wilson, Fat Guys Auto Parts; Vice-Chair Michael MacPherson, Down East Auto Parts; Treasurer Scott Anderson, Peterborough Automotive; Tony Racioppo, Fincham Automotive Supplies; John Brunelle, Parts Stop Auto & Industrial (IDL); Rob Dow, Jack Dow Auto Supplies; Arthur Edwards, Northwest Auto Parts; and Mark Haner, Auto Parts Authority.

2023 Vendor Awards

Bestbuy presented several vendor Awards of Excellence during the gala evening. Brunet stated, “These awards not only celebrate, but also honour the vital contributions of our vendor community, whose unparalleled support and collaboration are key to Bestbuy’s sustained success and growth.”

Mevotech Inc received the prestigious Horace J. Pratt 2023 Vendor of the Year award to recognize their excellence in service, sales performance, and support.

Other paramount vendor award categories presented: Dorman is the Marketing Partner Award recipient. ProMax received the Bestbuy Partner Award, and the Cornerstone Award went to Bosch Canada. Wilmar (Performance Tools) received the Rising Star Award.

Celebrating our Shareholders

Four shareholders celebrated anniversaries with Bestbuy this year and were presented with plaques to acknowledge their years of service and support. Brunet and Wilson presented the celebratory distinctions to Auto Magic, 35 years; McNeil Auto, 35 years; Camions Lague, 20 years (not present); and Thurais Automotive, 10 years.

Finally, the assembled audience gave a standing ovation to shareholder Gary Thibault of The Partsman, the departing Vice-chair of the Board of Directors. As a long-time member of the Board and a strong champion of Bestbuy Distributors, Gary was presented with a unique Canadian art piece to recognize his many years of dedicated service.

2024 Trade Event

The meetings and celebration concluded on Saturday with Bestbuy’s annual trade event at their Mississauga distribution centre. Bestbuy’s top vendor companies were on hand to discuss new business developments directly with Bestbuy shareholders and their employees.
